Ah, it is cold!
but the cold is a warming ember of sunlight,
which brings promise of a day of summer breezes,
promise of frolicking birds,
and the swiftness of a rushing stream.

Ah, it is beautiful!
but before long the dark comes again
and the cold comes again, only to say,
tomorrow is another day.

Frolicking 'mong the trees,
the bees ponder the foolish mid-May snow.
Alive again with hope,
after the shadow of winter destroyed all hope of spring.
But with a fresh new breath of sunlight,
the warmth and kindness that was before,
beckons to be forever more.
