Amendment I (1975)(3,2 ,2 ,2; 4 ,3,3,1; timp., 2 perc.; strings; tape) - Commissioned by the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. A programmatic piece that musically describes the freedoms of religion, speech and press. The tape contains actual news room sounds. Fragments of hymn tunes make up part one, while a written out aleatoric sounding section is used in part two. Part three uses a rhythmic fugue based on the teletype machine and a humorous "Ivesiam" coda concludes the piece. Duration: 7:00 Grade 4 Score and parts $50.00
